There have been various media reports of issues in Mexico over the past year. I want to inform you that I've been to Mexico twice over the last few months and have felt safe, even with leaving the resort. Many other agents travel all over Mexico regularly and continuously without plans to stop. There are approximately 35 million tourists who visit Mexico annually and the report of incidents is small compared to that number. Cancun continues to top the list for desired destinations by Americans.

With all that being said, I am not saying there aren't risks. Just as with certain areas in the US, it's important to stay vigilant and mindful of your surroundings. I know for a fact that Americans avoid certain areas in Chicago, New York, and even Milwaukee because of known issues. The main areas of concern in Mexico are several hours and several miles away from the tourist areas.

The current travel warning from the US Government for Mexico is at Level 2 (exercise increased caution) out of 4 levels  - this is the same exact warning that the US Government currently has issued for some Caribbean islands, such as Dominican Republic and Bahamas, as well as countries, such as Italy and Germany.

I'm explaining all of this to encourage you to be vigilant and watch out for other travelers while vacationing, but by all means, continue to travel and explore the world and various exciting destinations.
