Celebrity Equinox Cruise Ship

Celebrity Cruises offers the perfect blend of sophistication, mouth-watering cuisine, entertainment/activities, and value. The Celebrity Equinox ship holds up to 2,850 passengers. A main difference between Celebrity cruise line and Royal Caribbean, Carnival, or Norwegian Cruise line is the number of young children onboard. Celebrity doesn’t provide some of the main activities and entertainment that would draw families with younger children onboard such as water slides, rock climbing, or other high activity options. Instead, they have some basic activities such as ping pong, bocce ball, video arcade and children programming focused on S.T.E.M activities for the children. On the sailing I went on, there were only about 125 children onboard and I didn’t see very many of them which was enjoyable. My son who is 12 years old had a fantastic time in the Camp at Sea and was able to make some friends his age so they entertained themselves most of the time.
Celebrity Equinox Cuisine
Out of all the ships I’ve sailed thus far, Celebrity’s cuisine has far exceeded my expectations. Their main dining room provided mouthwatering food each evening with a rotating menu, but some classics available every day. Breakfast and lunch along with dinner are available in the Main Dining room. Even the buffet provided exceptional dining options with fresh ingredients. The buffet had food available until 1am so the only 24 hour food option is room service.
There are 3 specialty dining restaurants available for an upcharge, if desired. The multi-course meals at Tuscan Grill spoiled us and their steaks were some of the best we’ve ever tasted. Qsine provides a unique animated dining experience called Le Petit Chef where images are projected onto the table showing the ‘chef’ cooking your meal. And, Murano provides French Cuisine in an intimate setting.
Celebrity Equinox Activities Available onboard:
- Ping Pong Table (indoors)
- Bocce ball (outside on the grass)
- Putting Green
- Card Room with board games
- Hot Glass Studio (extra cost)
- Casino
- Sports Court with basketball, soccer, pickleball
- Outdoor Movie Screen
- Archery in the Grand Foyer (at select times)
- Theater (always seemed to be plenty of seating available)
- Open air pool and adult-only pool along with several hot tubs
- Silent Disco at various times throughout the cruise
- White Party on the pool deck
Celebrity Equinox Cabins
The layout of the cabins is typical for a cruise ship. We stayed in a balcony cabin on deck 8 towards the rear of the ship and had a connecting door with the next-door cabin. Connecting cabins are unique on Celebrity where the connecting door is on the outside of the cabins (see images below). A complaint we had with the cabin was the way the bathroom door swung – it would have been better to have the door swing open where you could step into the majority of the cabin, but instead it opened where you had to step towards the hallway door and go around the bathroom door to get to the bed and other part of the cabin. The shower stall had glass doors and full-size shampoo, condition, and shower gel were provided. There was a blow dryer for use, but it couldn’t plug into the bathroom outlet so you had to use it by the desk out in the main cabin. We found the cabin to have plenty of storage space in the bathroom, but would have liked more drawers/bigger drawers in the bedroom. The cabinet above the bed opens for more storage. Balconies are a decent size with two chairs and a table. If you have a connecting cabin, they can remove the divider on the balcony to make it one large balcony for the two cabins. Room stewards come in twice daily to freshen the cabin and they put chocolates on the pillows each evening. They also put beach towels in your cabin the night before docking which you can take off the ship to use in port.
Celebrity Equinox Summary
I would not hesitate to book another Celebrity cruise. The staff was so friendly and made us feel spoiled constantly. Staff members were always smiling and in a good mood which makes a big difference for passengers. The ship was the perfect size for me and my family where we were able to easily navigate around and there were plenty of activities to keep us entertained throughout the day and evening.
